Kate Schaffzin has served as Dean of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School since 2018. She is the first woman to hold the office. She has been on the faculty of the law school since 2008 and has served the Law School as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and as Director of Faculty Development. She has also served the University of Memphis as an inaugural member of the University’s Board of Trustees and as a Provost’s Fellow.
Kate’s previous legal practice focused on construction litigation at Pepper Hamilton, LLP, in Philadelphia, and Mazur, Carp & Rubin, P.C., in New York. She also served as law clerk to the Honorable James Knoll Gardner of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Kate earned her J.D. and her LLM degrees from Temple University and her B.A. from LaSalle University.
